DIET: Invertebrates, Insects, Fish, Small Mammals & amphibians.
NOTES: This is the smallest of all the otter species in the world, weighing less than 5 kg. Its lives in mangrove swamps and freshwater wetlands. They form monogamous pairs for life. They are also diurnal animals and are continually grooming their fur to maintain its insulating qualities. It communicates by vocalization, scent marking and sign heaps. This is a seriously threaten species due to the rapid habitat destruction, hunting and pollution.
