DISTRIBUTION: Boreal forests east and south of the Amur river in Russia and North China.
DIET: Medium and large size mammals (deer and wild pigs).
NOTES: The biggest tiger of all 8 tiger subspecies. It weights 180-300 kg. It is estimated that the wild population is less than 400 and they are considered critically endangered. They are threatened by poaching for their fur and body parts used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and habitat loss.
