DISTRIBUTION: Andes mountain region of South America.
DIET: Low shrubs, mountain vegetation and alfalfa.
NOTES: Llamas are very social animals and like to live with other llamas as a herd. the wool produced by them is very soft and lanolin free. Llamas are intelligent animals that are capable of learning simple task after just a few repetitions. They can live to about 15 – 20 years and have a gestation period of 11 and a half month (350 days).
