CROCODILES
Crocodylia (crocodiles, caimans, alligators and gharials) are known as the ‘ancient reptiles’. Their natural history can be traced back over 200 million years; to the time of the dinosaurs.
Crocodilians are amphibious reptiles, which can be found in rivers, lakes swamps and estuaries throughout the tropics. Despite their connection to the pre-historic past, they are more advanced than any other living reptile. They have a great capacity for learning rather than relying on instinct, which is one of the reasons they are considered to be among the most successful and efficient predators of the present day.
