This national bird of the United States is becoming rare in most of its range and is plentiful today only in Alaska and Florida. This species is protected. By far the greater part of this birds’ diet is fish, a few that it catches for itself but most of which are found dead along the shore. Its favorite pastime is harassing fishermen, forcing them to drop their catch, so the eagle can retrieve it before it hits the water. Below is a picture of one of our Bald Eagles.
